The Whittling Chip Pocketknife Safety Pledge

Cub Scout Outdoor Program

The Boy Scouts of America promotes an outdoor program of camping and hiking, and often lists a pocketknife as an essential piece of outdoor equipment. The safe handling and use of a pocketknife is a skill learned by Cub Scouts at the Bear Cub level, and reinforced through the ongoing involvement of Leaders promoting the Outdoor Code and the Whittling Chip Pocketknife Pledge.

Downloads of the Whittling Chip Worksheet and Pledge, as well as some suggestions on choosing a first pocketknife for a Cub Scout are below.
